MICHAEL M. OSSORGIN

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Michael Ossorgin has been involved with the construction industry for over thirty-five years and is a well-respected member of the construction industry.  He is a licensed general contractor and has been involved in construction projects in New Mexico, California, Arizona and Colorado.  He has held various positions with many construction related organizations and continues to serve on various municipal and/or association committees, boards and councils.

 

Michael has been involved with dispute resolution since 1986 and has served as an American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitrator since 1989.  He has served as an individual arbitrator and as a member of tripartite panels.

 

EDUCATION

 

Michael attended St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and received both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982.  After graduating from college, Michael has continued his education by taking a variety of courses in various areas of expertise related to the construction industry from builder associations such as the National Association of Home Builders, the New Mexico Home Builders Association and the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association.  He has also taken many courses in several states related to building codes, business law, OSHA and other construction industry related topics.  He is also well versed in estimating, business management, CAD designing and other construction industry specializations.

 

Michael has also had extensive training concerning dispute resolution including the AAA Construction Industry Arbitrator Training program, which he completed in 1996.  He continues updating his dispute resolution knowledge by attending other courses in mediation and arbitration from the University of New Mexico School of Law and other accredited organizations.

 

CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

 

Over his thirty-five years of involvement in the building and remodeling industry, Michael has built or remodeled many single-family residences and has done an extensive amount of large commercial renovations and additions in New Mexico, Arizona, California and Colorado.  Michael’s list of clients is almost a who’s who of prominent people.  His reputation for quality of construction, his knowledge, dependability and creativity is well known throughout the industry.  His hands-on construction experience is an asset that has served him well as a construction arbitrator throughout the years.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSES

 

Michael holds the following professional licenses and certifications:

·       New Mexico Licensed General Contractor – GB98 – industrial, commercial and residential construction

·       New Mexico Licensed Mechanical Contractor – MM98 – industrial, commercial and residential plumbing, heating and general mechanical license and residential plumbing, heating and general mechanical license

·       California Class B Contractors License

·        Arizona Class B-01 Commercial Contractors License

·       Colorado Reciprocal Classification A Unlimited Supervisor allowing for licensing in any jurisdiction in Colorado without retesting


CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT

 

Michael has been very involved with builders associations and other organizations and municipal entities.  He has served as a National Director on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders representing the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association.  As Vice President of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association, he began the “Remodelors Council” which today is an active affiliated council of the National Association of Home Builders.  He currently serves as the vice chairman of the Construction Industry Advisory Board for the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  As a builder and remodeler, he is active with the Better Business Bureau, the FDIC and the Associated General Contractors Association.
