GENERAL OVERVIEW

Jay Mills is the president of Homes Extraordinaire, Inc. & Homes By Jay Mills, Inc. He is an active member of the San Juan County Home Builders Association,  He is currently on the Technical Advisory Committee & was co-chairman,  as well as President in 2001. He is equally active in the New Mexico State Home Builders Association, in 2001 he served as Regional Vice President, in 2002 Secretary Treasure, in 2003 President elect, & served as President in 2004. From 1998 thru 2002 he served as a judge for the Home of Enchantment Parade of Homes. Mayor’s 20 Year Steering committee for community development in 2000 & 2001. Code committee for the Construction Industry Division 2000 thru 2004. He is an active board member of the Better Business Bureau. He is an active member  with the  Farmington Chamber of Commerce & San Juan College Carpentry Trades Counsel.

CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE


Jay  has over 50 years of both commercial & residential construction experience. Projects ranging from modest single family homes to multi-level commercial buildings with more than 500,000 square feet of floor space. 1955 - 1975 he was a superintendent for Kealy Construction in Farmington, New Mexico. Buildings for Kealy included First United Methodist Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bluffview Grade School, Citizens Bank, Y&S Candy Factory, 360 residential homes for the City of Gallup Housing Authority (in a three year period).
 

1967 - 1975 Jay was also a carpenter instructor for the Union Local 1319. Apprentice program in Farmington, New Mexico. In 1975 Jay Started his own company Jay Mills Construction Company, in Casper Wyoming. He was a high volume concrete contractor, employing a staff of 32 & handling up to 12,000 sq. ft. of concrete per day. 1985  he decided to move back to Farmington, New Mexico. He worked at Jayne’s Corporation from 1985 - 1995. Construction included Swinburne Grade School, Bloomfield school additions, Shiprock Schools, San Juan College additions, Gallup Schools, Zuni Schools, & Gallup Hospital. In 1994 Jay founded Homes Extraordinaire, Inc. It’s proud president has overseen the construction of more than 160 residential homes, NM License #54168. Jay is now the President of four corporations. M & K Rentals, Inc. was formed in 2003 to cope with rental activity. Homes Extraordinaire’s sister corporation, Homes By Jay Mills, Inc.  was formed in 2004 to separate price ranges, NM License #90042. In 2005 First Choice Home Inspections, Inc. was formed to fill a needed gap in the industry. Jay is extremely involved in home construction & proud to be part of  Construction Dispute Resolution.
